Kenneth B. Roberts, Ph.D

An administrator, author, scientist, and leader in the field of pharmacy, Kenneth Roberts became dean of the University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy in March 2000. Prior to coming to UK, Roberts served as dean of the School of Pharmacy, executive director of the Research Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and professor of pharmacy administration at the University of Mississippi.
Roberts has been the principal or co-investigator on more than 30 extramural grants and contracts and has published more than 100 articles and abstracts. He has written or co-authored 12 books on the economics of pharmacy practice, managed care pharmacy services programs, management, and marketing pharmacy services. In addition, he has made more than 500 professional and scientific presentations throughout the United States and abroad.
Throughout his career, Roberts has received recognition for his work. In 1998, he was recognized by the American College of Apothecaries as the nation's outstanding leader in pharmacy education. He received the Professional Promotions Award from the Kentucky Pharmacists Association in 2002 and the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy in 2003. In September 2000, Roberts was appointed to the Kentucky Innovations Commission, and serves as a member of the Kentucky Pharmacy Leadership Council and the Lexington-Fayette County Board of Health.
Roberts
received a bachelor’s of science degree in pharmacy and a master’s of business
administration degree in marketing from the University of Tennessee. He earned
a Ph.D. in healthcare administration from the University of Mississippi in
1975.
